Troop 258 spent the weekend of May 1–3 camping at Belleplain State Forest, taking full advantage of the outdoors with a mix of skill-building, teamwork, and a little downtime.
Patrols focused on cooking and worked through key requirements for the Search and Rescue merit badge. Scouts completed multiple search scenarios and a hands-on rescue using a blanket stretcher—putting both problem-solving and teamwork to the test.
Meals were a highlight of the weekend. Friday night wrapped up with a quick (but well-earned) dinner of mac and cheese with meatballs and broccoli after a late arrival. Saturday started early with French toast and Canadian bacon, followed by a full day of activities. Dinner that night featured smash burgers, salad, and a crowd-favorite dessert: a giant chocolate chip cookie pie. Sunday morning closed things out with pancakes, sausage, and a smooth campsite cleanup.
Between activities, scouts had time to fish, relax, and recharge—striking a great balance between learning and enjoying the outdoors.
Another successful trip in the books—on to the next adventure.
